Alma, Family Support Team & Promotoras: Building Skills to Support Others 

Team members from Alma, the Family Support Team, and Promotoras engaged in a multi-day training in October with CHOICES Recovery Trainings, strengthening the teams’ skills and knowledge to work with community members toward improved health and well-being.

El Busesito Preschool: Learning in the Field

Autumn was a busy season, filled with activities for teachers, children, and parents. In October, teachers organized field trips to the Sopris Alpaca Farm in Silt and ACES Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, allowing children and families to enjoy some of the last beautiful fall days before the snow flew.

 


Learning with Love: Parent-Toddler Bonding in Motion

During our recent Family Nights, the Learning with Love team organized exciting obstacle courses for families to enjoy. These joyful evenings helped develop gross motor skills in participating children and adults and served as a platform for social interaction and family bonding. Additionally, toddlers and families had the opportunity to practice critical social skills, such as taking turns and sharing.

Evaluation plays a key role in everything we do. Valley Settlement staff utilize various tools throughout the year to aid our annual program evaluation, including the Ages and Stages Questionnaires®, Teaching Strategies® GOLD, Bracken School Readiness Assessment, Family Child Care Environment Rating Scales®, Parenting Interactions with Children: Checklist of Observations Linked to Outcomes (PICCOLO™), rapid-cycle evaluation, and pre- and post-program surveys.
