Job Description:

The FFN Licensure Navigator is part of the Family Friends and Neighbors Team (FFN) at Valley Settlement. The FFN Licensure Navigator will become well-versed in the different avenues of becoming a licensed or qualified exempt (QE) in-home childcare provider through the State of Colorado, then work directly with FFN providers in Eagle County to support them through the licensure or QE process. The work will include research, conversations with appropriate state and county licensure experts, provider recruitment, and one-on-one home visits with providers. The FFN Licensure Navigator will also bring components of Valley Settlement’s FFN program curriculum to participating providers, including provision of materials and childcare supports.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain trusting working relationships with providers
  • Organize trips with providers when needed with outside organizations
  • Work with providers to take steps toward family’s overall well-being
  • Conduct regular home visits with providers
  • Complete a home visit report for each home visit conducted
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with providers when needed
  • Research and become an expert in State in-home childcare licensure and Qualified Exemption requirements
  • Identify needs and make referrals to area health and social service agencies as needed
  • Assist in recruiting by door knocking or building connections to identify potential providers
  • Navigate systems with providers as they try to become qualified exempt providers or licensed through the state
  • Check in with manager, as needed, and attend regular team meetings
  • Make reminder phone calls to remind providers about their home visits or meetings
  • Make copies of handouts as needed
  • Monitor provider’s progress using oral and written methods
  • Collaborate closely with project funder to share ideas, resources, and insights
  • Report out on progress and findings as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

  Minimum Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish oral and written)
  • Home visitation experience (either having received home visits or conducted them)
  • Navigator experience or training (will also be acquired with the first 2 months of work)
  • Knowledge of community served
  • Experience in community work, education, health care, or related field
  • Technology skills: laptop, cell phones, Internet/online application systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive (Documents & Spreadsheets)
  • Have and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license
  • Available and reliable vehicle to visit families in their home and community (mileage reimbursed)
