Early Childhood Education Program Aide
Reports to: Director of Program Operations
Schedule: This is a temporary, nonexempt position expected to begin in November 2025 and last until November 2026. This position offers up to 32 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday. This position requires availability during programming hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with some evening and weekend availability required. Times are subject to change based on programming needs.
Hourly Range: $20.00 – $25.00, based on qualifications and previous related work experience.

General Description:
Valley Settlement uses a two-generation approach to improve early childhood education and provide families with the support they need to thrive. We focus on serving the Latino/a community through a varied network of six programs, each designed to meet different community needs.
The Early Childhood Program Aide position provides essential support across all of Valley Settlements’ Early Childhood programs by assisting during class times and participating in events or activities as needed. The Aide works closely with teachers and staff to create a supportive learning environment for young children and to support the families enrolled in Valley Settlement programming.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for providing support to program teachers and educators with the following activities and duties
Planning
- Classroom set up for daily learning activities.
- Organizes and completes inventory of program materials
- Ensure program spaces are well-maintained and safe for participants
- Support in new student and family enrollment and recruitment through various sources, including door-knocking or other methods.
- Participates in required trainings and/or certification processes when applicable.
Enrollment
- Complete the registration process for new and returning participants through home visits or in-person meetings.
- Upload and update participant information in the program’s data tracking system.
- Maintain the program waitlist following the common established process.
Family Engagement & Education
- Respond appropriately to family needs and make referrals as needed to the Family Support Team.
- Participate in planning, organizing, and facilitating family engagement events.
- Communicate any important observations about children’s families to program teachers and educators.
- Build trusting relationships with families in our community
- Support in sharing community resources with program participants
Implementation
- Ensures constant supervision and safety for all children.
- Follow the established policies and procedures of the program
- Adapts and follows the daily routines to meet the interests and needs of each class.
- When needed, responsible for the travel of the mobile program vehicles. This includes completing pre- and post-trip checks, refilling fuel and fluids, tracking mileage, and submitting maintenance work forms to the designated maintenance department when required.
- Complete work reports per the program’s established schedule.
- Follows organizational home visiting practices and protocols
- Ensure timely and effective communication with the program’s supervisor when programming updates, challenges, or changes occur.
- Must be able to travel to meet the participant in the field (mileage reimbursement provided)
- Create and maintain an environment that fosters learning and promotes a sense of belonging.
- Support the entry of participants’ daily attendance in the tracking system
- Save and keep program-related documents up to date in the program’s shared drive.
Program Monitoring & Evaluation
- Supports the administration of internal and external program surveys
- Supports the administration of child evaluation assessments
- Attend, reflect, and participate in the annual evaluation retreat
Organizational Leadership
- Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy outlined in VS’s values, mission, vision, and goals
- Follows program and organizational policies, protocols, and practices at all times
- Respond appropriately to sensitive and/or confidential information and requests; maintain confidentiality at all times
- Participate, engage, and provide feedback in individual one-on-ones, team check-ins, all staff meetings, and in other settings
- Periodically attend and sometimes lead community events for Valley Settlement programs
- Engages in program tours or site visits coordinated by the Development team as needed
- Check and respond to emails at the start and end of each workday.
- Keep work calendars updated with all program activities, meetings, home visits, and any time you will be out of the office.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- High School Diploma or Equivalent AND;
Must possess an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Level 1 Credential through the Colorado Department of Early Childhood or become certified within the 1 year of being hired
- Previous experience working with children and families is preferred.
- Have a valid Colorado driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Available and reliable vehicle for visiting families and traveling to different program locations (mileage reimbursed)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive (Documents & Spreadsheets)
- Candidate must be able to satisfy all Colorado childcare licensing requirements
- To meet the competencies of an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher, the following classes are required to be completed within 1 year of being hired:
- ECE 1011 – Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- And one of the following courses:
- ECE 1031 – Guidance Strategies for Young Children
- ECE 1111 – Infant and Toddler Theory and Practice
- ECE 2101 – Working with Families and Communities
- ECE 2381 – ECE Child Growth and Development
- And one of the following courses:
- ECE 1011 – Introduction to Early Childhood Education
The following trainings are to be completed by the employee in the following time frames. Valley Settlement will provide opportunities for completing these trainings:
Complete Prior to Caring for Children
- Building & Physical Premises Safety/Storage of Hazardous Materials & Bio-Contaminants
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for Child Care Providers

- Medication Administration Part 1
- Medication Administration Part 2
Complete within 30 Calendar Days of Employment
- Introduction to First Aid and CPR
- Recognition and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
- Child Care and Preschool Immunizations
- RE-1 Small Bus Driver Training
Complete within 90 Calendar Days of Employment
- Introduction to the Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education Programs
- Recognizing the Impact of Bias on Early Childhood Professionals
- Playground Safety for Child Care Centers
- Injury Prevention for Child Care Centers
Physical Requirements:
The job duties require an employee to handle the physical demands of the work, including prolonged periods of standing, frequent bending and sitting on the floor. The employee must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and load and unload materials at various class sites. Lastly, this job may require going up and down stairs.
